Westmont Homestead & Cottages provide accommodation and care for 134 residents including respite, Memory Support Care .

Moving into residential care is one of the most important decisions you will make at this time of your life. Both the Homestead and Cottages are staffed with trained individuals 24/7 who have our resident’s interests and care needs at the centre of what they do. We offer a range of activities if this is something the resident chooses, and we encourage family participation.

The Baranduda site consists of 123 independent living Villas, 40 Assisted Living Apartments, and 134-bed Residential Aged Care (Homestead and Cottages). All are surrounded by 16 hectares of beautifully maintained gardens, wide walking paths, ponds, BBQ areas, a fully functional Ray Snell Recreation Centre that can cater for over 120 people, a Community Centre, and many spaces to just sit and reflect.

Our Westmont Community Care operations have two sites in Wodonga. Westmont Community Care focuses on assisting people by providing care and services in-home so they can live independently and remain safe. Other services include our social connections group which meets at our site at the Willows in McFarland Rd, Wodonga, coming together to socialize, talk and do the things that interest them whilst building relationships and staying connected to their community.

We understand that social interaction and physical and mental activity are vital to a happy and fulfilling life. The Westmont community has been designed to allow residents easy access to a range of facilities, services, and social activities with the reassurance of care and support if required.

Westmont Homestead

The Homestead is a modern, single-level 102-bed residential aged care facility that enables and encourages residents to live a productive lifestyle with 24/7 care and assistance always close at hand. The Homestead offers many indoor and outdoor spaces where you can choose to get involved in what’s happening or find a quiet space if this is your preference.

Westmont Cottages

Our Cottages are also built on a single level and are designed for people who have Memory Support Requirments. They are safe, secure, have lots of natural light with open spaces and they look and feel just like a home in the suburbs. Westmont has four Cottages, each housing eight residents with 24/7 care and assistance. Cottage residents are encouraged to do the things that interest them, enabling them to live the life they choose, where families are welcomed and encouraged to join in.

Steps to enter aged care:

As a Commonwealth subsidised facility all permanent and respite residents must be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) and hold a current assessment prior to entering our facility.

You will need an Aged Care Assessment prior to entering residential aged care.

If you contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 they will assist you with the process and advise you on what you will need to do.

Discuss with the Westmont Director of Care and Clinical Services the possibility of a holiday (respite) in the facility to check if we can meet your requirements. You are entitled to 63 days of respite per financial year. This gives you the opportunity to trial several aged care facilities to help you decide which one you would like to live in permanently.

Westmont offers of placement are on a needs basis. To determine the needs of prospective residents we consult with the ACAS, doctors and the hospitals. Prospective residents must also meet Westmont’s admission criteria.

It is important that you have visited, completed all the paper work and are fully prepared because a decision must be made very quickly (usually within 24 hours) when a room is offered to you, with the move into Residential Aged Care happening within seven days.

Fees:

Westmont Homestead or Cottage operations are controlled by the requirements of the Aged Care Act 1997. Fees and charges are those prescribed by the Department of Health as required by all residential aged care facilities in Australia.

An assessment of Income and Assets will determine the initial entry fee and the level of ongoing fees applicable to residents.
