Westmont New Recreation Centre on Target for October Completion
“Westmont’s new ‘state of the art’ $2.25 million Recreation Centre is fast approaching completion. The futuristic design with sweeping curved rooflines and cleverly positioned windows will catch the best of the region’s brilliant natural light”, explained Peter Ward, Westmont Hotel Services Manager and Project Manager for the new Centre.
A magnificent spotted gum, hardwood dance floor with high tech hearing loops embedded under the floors surface in the main hall, will ensure all hearing-impaired residents will be getting music and words ‘loud and clear’ for all future events.
The photographs here, taken early in July, show that nearly all the plastering is complete as well as 90 per cent of all brickwork and roofing. The plumbing is ‘roughed in’ and all the electrical wiring has been completed.
Colours, finishes, door furniture, skirting and architraves have all been selected to match the existing Community Centre. A carefully planned neutral colour ‘look and feel’ for the new facility has been chosen to allow for longevity of use and functionality explained Peter.
“Our task has been to create a colour scheme and an environment that won’t date in the years ahead. By changing from time to time the furnishings, paintings and window finishes we will be able to keep a visual sense of freshness in design and continuing modernity for our residents in the years ahead”, Peter explained.
